Airbus, Italy (with Leonardo) will produce another section of the220. Waiting for the European super-drone

Italy will churn out another piece of the Irbus A220, the latest generation single corridor plane for short and medium flights increasingly requested by airlines all over the world. The European aerospace giant has entrusted to Leonardo the production of the rear section of the 4th of the220 which will be added to what the Italian group already does for the same specimen: the horizontal and vertical stabilizer.
Deliveries from 2027
This was confirmed by Valerio Moro, head of Airbus in our country. It is not clear, at the moment, where the segment will be made, but it should be the factories of Nola/Pomigliano d’Arco. « The first deliveries are expected in 2027, the preparations have already started, » says the manager. For the A220 – a aircraft present in the Ita Airways fleet – there is a production of 14 aircraft per month in 2026, while that of the321 – another flagship of which Leonardo has long made a piece of the front fuselage, section 14a – will rise to 75 per month in 2027.
Prices
For the A220, the latest list prices are between 81 and 92 million dollars (it depends on the variant). Including the impact of the significant discounts that are always there, according to analysts consulted by Courier The average real price is 36-40 million. Even if on these valibus values it does not confirm since these are private negotiations between producer and airline.
