Ahmadreza Djalali: Sweden will be responsible for my death
The Swedish Impic physician Ahmadreza Djalali is constantly under threat of execution and his health condition has deteriorated severely Lately.
In a voice message to the public service channel VRT, he talks about how the inhuman conditions in the notorious Evin prison in Tehran led to heart failure, gastrointestinal, bowel problems and severe weight loss.
– I’m really at my burst limit.
He urges the Swedish government and the EU to do everything in his power to get him free.
– Otherwise, I will die here, either through execution or illness, he says.
– An end to the torture of me requires real and joint measures from the EU and the Swedish government. Otherwise, these governments will be partly responsible for my death.
Ahmadreza Djalali was arrested During a lecture trip in Iran in April 2016, accused of espionage. He has consistently denied the charges and said he was forced into recognition through torture.
Since then, has His family fought a long struggle to get him released from the dreaded Evin prison. When Johan Floderus and Saeed Azizi were released in a prison exchange in the summer of 2024, the family questioned why he was not included.
Now Djalalis is Mrs. Vida Mehrania desperate.
– Every day I fear the phone call where someone says they have executed him, she tells VRT.
The Swedish government has stated that Iran does not recognize Djalali’s Swedish citizenship, since he became a Swedish citizen only after he has been imprisoned for two years. Thus, they have refused to discuss a prison exchange regarding Djalali.
