Aggressor countries will not play at the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy in Hockey Tournament / Day

The news portal, referring to a conversation with Viestur Koziol, Member of the Council of the International Hockey Federation (IIHF), says the decision was made at the annual IIHF Congress in Stockholm.

Following the IIHF and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) talks, the aggressor country will not participate in the 2026 Milan and Cortina D’Ampeco Winter Olympics Hockey Tournament.

Since the Russian war in Ukraine in Ukraine in early 2022, Russia and Belarus are not admitted to the IIHF tournaments.

In Russia, France will participate in the Italian games.

It has already been reported that the Latvian team secured a place in the Olympic Tournament in early September 2024 in a qualifying tournament in Riga by 4: 2 beat Slovenia, 5: 1 – Ukraine and 5: 2 – France.

The Olympic Hockey Tournament will take place from 5 to 226 February 2026 in Milan.

For the first time since 2014, the National Hockey League (NHL) players will participate in Sochi.

It was Russia who, together with the US and Slovakia, was included in the O -Olympic Games Tournament in Group C, which will also be played by Latvia. Now Russia’s place has been taken by France.

Latvia has played six times after the restoration of independence at the Olympics.
