Again a BBB senator gets on: former judge Robert Croll to D66
The BBB group in the Senate is once again lost a senator. Robert Croll (70), previously a member of the CDA, informed BBB last weekend that he is switching to D66. In a written statement, Monday afternoon, Croll himself says that, according to him, BBB has become ‘more and more an extension of the PVV’ and that ‘the drop’ is ‘the situation in the Middle East’ for him. « As a former volunteer of the Red Cross, I cannot and do not want to watch the suffering in Gaza. »
Two weeks ago, Senator Eric Kemperman also left the BBB group. He is now a one -man fraction. Kemperman left after his departure Knowing that he had started to feel less and less at home with the party. He also mentioned Gaza as a reason, but especially Ukraine. Van Kemperman thought the other BBBs had known for a while that he felt more related to the ideas of FVD than to those of their party.

The departure of Robert Croll, former judge, also comes according to BBB’s First Chamber Fraction President Ilona Lagas’ not unexpected. She just didn’t think, she says through the phone, that he would keep his seat and switch to D66, the party that is ideological right opposite BBB.
In a statement, BBB leader Caroline van der Plas says that she thinks it is « incomprehensible and undesirable » that the D66 group is now « strengthened » with a BBB seat. She calls D66 « a party that makes farmers difficult and commit to the halving of the herd. »
I already had the impression that he was no longer so happy with us. Let me put it this way: he no longer blew the energy
According to D66 party leader in the Senate Paul van Meenen, Croll is welcome at his group. He also responds in a statement: « We got to know him as a committed and driven senator. » According to Van Meenen, Croll fits « the mission and the course of D66. »
Due to the switch from Croll, BBB still has 14 seats in the Senate. For the coalition of PVV, VVD, NSC and BBB, the departure of Croll means that it is no longer possible to get a majority together for their plans with right -wing fractions such as JA21, SGP, JA21, 50PLUS and the one -man fraction of Kemperman.
Jokes at D66
BBB party chairman Ilona Lagas says that she had been having « conversations » with Croll for a while, and that he had not really seemed to belong to the group for a long time. « I already had the impression that he was no longer so happy with us. Let me put it this way: he no longer blew the energy. »
That Croll retains its seat, she calls « not neat. » « Our very group is not due to the seats to our own efforts, but only to the hard work of Caroline van der Plas. »
In the Senate, a group of BBB’ers was dissatisfied and considered leaving. D66 jokes were also made about that. That group had five seats in the Senate so far.
