After the split in Sofia: Will there be self -eating again

Boris Bonev’s criticisms are convincing that lack of energy, inability to leadership and failure to comply with a management program will return GERB to a white horse to the capital’s government in the next election.

If Mayor Terziev touched his term in the same way, and if the party sabotage against him continued, the GERB will be returned to power. Save Sofia left the ruling coalition at the Sofia City Council (SOC) and declared itself a constructive opposition. The ruling ones did not have a majority with them, but without the eighth municipal councilors of Boris Bonev, the ruling minority melts even more and the PP-HB remains with 14 people in the SOC, along with the non-constructive opposition GERB.

« Save Sofia » actually admits that he is an opposition mainly to the mayor of Sofia Vasil Terziev, from whom he withdraws his confidence. Not technocratic but sociopathic

Indeed, when you hold one of the most political posts in the country, with the highest legitimacy after that of the President, because it is obtained through direct democratic choice, it is unacceptable to be politically unobtrusive. Even less to be absent from any political communication – inward, to the parties behind you, and out, to the citizens in front of you.

It is no excuse that you manage without a majority in the local parliament behind you, because you have to create it yourself or learn to work with floating majority. Thus, dozens of mayors work in the country because they have no choice – unlike parliament, which can be dissolved, local parliaments have been riding an entire mandate without early vote.

Attempts to compensate or present the lack of policy as team management from personally selected staff are doomed to failure, because such is impossible without political support and without political responsibility. Not when such a government cannot be legitimized with quick and visible results. Therefore, for a year and a half, Terziev’s approach in the metropolitan municipality does not even look technocratic, but is more sociopathic.

Not only Terziev guilty

However, the problems of the mayoral administration are far from being due only to the mayor. All three formations that raised it bear the main responsibility of not securing a majority. They did not seem to have encouraged and assisted the mayor to do so, even if we assume that they were desperate for his weak political capabilities, in addition to his biographical weights that burdened him in the election campaign. Most of the party headquarters in the winning election of the Coalition do not seem to have stood systematically and tightly behind their political offices in the SOC, leaving their municipal councilors to deal with themselves and interfere with a crisis fire.

However, to achieve fast and permanent anti -corruption results in the Sofia Municipality is difficult to achieve, even with sanitary corruption impenetrability of one’s own staff and good coalition interaction. Because it is about the breakdown of quasiipolitic corruption models with powerful capabilities and well -worked practices. The current ruling coalition has long been talking about an economic majority in the SOC and the networks of Orlin Alexiev, Krasio Black and Taki. Who will be the next mayor?

However, whenever mayor elections are, Bonev cannot rely on success without the party support of his coalition partners and their faithful voters yesterday. PP and « Yes, Bulgaria » – the first more tightly, the second more reserved – they have already announced that they are supporting Mayor Terziev. This is understandable because they are responsible for his successes and failures from his choice. Save Sofia will still prove how it can be liable in another way if it is actually proven as a constructive opposition and moves the cumbersome and poorly effective management. It will also be a springboard for Bonev to establish himself as an alternative leader of the capital’s democratic community, which can hardly be ignored by potential coalition partners in the next election.

A split or chance of the community not to self -self

The history of democratic political representation since the early 1990s has been an endless string of units and splits. And this variety is not only due to the representation, and the representatives are also diverse. Therefore, one can also look positively at the latest state of half -life – with its main faces showing belonging to it in the form of constructive opposition. This may be a chance not to start self -esteem, but eventually lead to transformations within itself in order to preserve its alive claim to represent diverse groups of civic engaged people.

During the next crisis of political and management potency, this time can be passed without tearing shirts and curses, and without starting again from scratch, with new parties and brand new faces, who are yet to overcome the self that the world begins with them.
