After the Olympic success: Last tour stage at Moulin Rouge planned
After the spectacle at the Olympic Games, the increase to Montmartre is to be integrated into the last stage of the Tour de France. The Paris police chief confirmed corresponding plans, but spoke of some open questions. « We have to see if we have enough barriers and enough mobile units, » said police chief Laurent Nunez. « It is not the same to have 80 drivers at the Olympic Games and then 170 in a probably competitive stage. »
In the street race of the Olympic Games, the drivers had crossed the Montmartre several times and also passed the famous variety theater Moulin Rouge. Several tens of thousands of fans had caused goosebumps in the district.
Luxembourg probably also represented again
The Tour de France 2025 will also play an important role for fans from the Grand Duchy. Normally, this will not take place without Luxembourg. The chances of 32-year-old Bob Jungels, currently under contract with Ineos Grenadiers to take part in the Tour de France, are good. Already in 2022 he won the stage from Aigle to Châtel Les Portes du Soleil.

But Kevin Geniets (Groupama-FDJ) is also traded as a possible candidate for the Tour de France. So far, he can look back on three participation in La Grande Boucle. Unlike Bob Jungels and Kevin Geniets, Alex Kirsch (Lidl) will most likely not take part in this year’s tour of France. The participation of Michel Ries is also considered rather unlikely.
Criticism of the last stage
The closing stage of the tour will end on the Champs-Elysées again. With the installation of the famous hill, the organizers would respond to the criticism that the last section had become boring, since it always ends in a sprint on the magnificent boulevard anyway. The designated tour winner is traditionally no longer attacked by its worst rivals on the final stage.
Due to the summer games of Paris, the past tour in Nice had ended. There the organizers did not start a classic stage, but started a single time trial from Monaco to Nice. At that time, the tour was practically decided in favor of Tadej Pogacar (SLO/UAE).
