After the incident in the stadium: protesting throw violence
It was unsightly scenes that are between the first half of the test game between Luxembourg and Slovenia (0: 1) occurred. On Friday evening, a group of people in the Stade de Luxembourg protested with symbolic red cards and some banners against the nomination of Gerson Rodrigues. This was sentenced to a prison sentence of 18 months by the appellate court for multiple bodily harm-including a case of domestic violence-and was against Slovenia in the starting eleven of the FLF selection.
The protest was organized by Information and documentation center « Cid Fraen to Gender ». On the protest banners it was read: « You protect you perpetrators, I protect ice cream », « Schumm Dech, FLF » and « FLF: compliz amplaz consequence ». A red card was also painted on another poster, behind it: « Fir d’flf ».
After the security officers had torn down two banner, they came up to us without justification and acted against us with non -justifiable violence.
Cléo Thoma
Board member Cid Fraen to Gender
« We protested the fact that Luc Holtz Gerson nominated Rodrigues, » explains Cléo Thoma, board member, the « Cid Fraen to Gender », to the « Luxembourg word ». « We see this a banalization of violence against women. We think that top athletes who represent their country should also represent the values of the country. »
However, the FLF-critical banners were removed by folders during the first half. Initially, these two banners attached to the stands had torn down. Subsequently, security officers also went into the block of the activists to tear this further posters out of their hands, whereby there was also an argument between the demonstrators and the security personnel.
« Control not to be justified »
« We protested peacefully. Neither with the slogans that we chanted, nor the protest banners were insults. Suddenly we saw that one of the folders was on the phone and that the security personnel were increasingly nervous below our grandstands, » said Thoma. « After the security officers had torn down two banners, they came up to the stands without justification and went against us with non -justifiable violence. They pushed us and snatched the other posters out of our hands. Even after that, a folder continued to have a participant who was standing next to me, » says Thoma.
« Afterwards she had to go to the hospital. The results showed that one finger was broken and further dislocated, » says Thoma. The woman concerned now wants to file a complaint with the police, as Thoma revealed. According to FLF general secretary Joël Wolff, a folder is said to have been beaten during the security personnel. Thoma denies that.
Instruction of the FLF general secretary
Wolff says he himself gave the instructions to have one of the banner removed. He incorrectly thought that on a « Fick FLF » poster, he would stand instead of « Fir d’flf », which he rated as a violation of the UEFA Stadium Ordinance. According to this, it is prohibited, among other things, to show or spread insulting messages.

The rest of the banners would have removed the law enforcement officers on their own. According to Wolff, six to seven activists from the Stade de Luxembourg are said to have been escorted after the subsequent discussion. However, when Wolff was shown a photo of the actual lettering, he regretted the mistake.
« The FLF could have checked the facts before it gives such a statement, » said Thoma. « We were also not escorted from the Stade de Luxembourg, but have voluntarily left the stadium because violence happened to us and our means of expression were taken. »
The “Compadres Tridefa” fan club also expressed its displeasure on Friday evening with two protest banners. First, the lettering « Rout Kaart Fir Violence Géint Fraen », which was attached to a concrete wall, was demolished by security officers. Later the fan club showed a satirical adaptation of the FLF logo, in which the « Roude Léiw » hits a paw. Below it said: « Press Rip ».
FLF President Paul Philipp: « I don’t think of public executions »
To explain: In addition to the Rodrigues nomination, the FLF had made headlines with another campaign at the beginning of the week. The national football association had one Journalists excluded from a media roundbecause national coach Luc Holtz is bothered by his reporting.
