After the first ranking 9700 children stayed outside the gardens in Sofia

The first ranking of children applying to the municipal independent nurseries, gardens and preparatory groups in the municipal schools on the territory of the Sofia Municipality was held today. More than 11,000 children have been adopted, and 9700 are left outside the ranking. The vacancies for the next rankings are over 3200. This was announced by the press center of the Sofia Municipality.

For the first ranking, the municipality announced 14 693 vacancies – 9052 seats for children in gardens and 5641 places for the alert groups. After the first ranking in the gardens, 6295 children were accepted and 5163 in the crib. More than 3200 vacancies remain for the next stages of the ranking. The applicants are 23 683, of which 2504 are also attended by a kindergarten, but they wish to be moved.

The first -ranking children are just over 9700 and the expectation is after the third ranking to reduce their number due to the construction of new buildings, according to the Sofia Municipality.

Enrollment

The ranked children should be enrolled in the respective kindergarten, nursery or school until 4 pm on May 23. The second ranking will take place on May 23, with parents being able to apply for the system until 5pm.

The third ranking will be held on June 6th.

More than 1,300 children are expected to be accepted by the end of the year

Since the beginning of the year, 407 places have been opened in new kindergartens or in the expansion of already existing ones. Since September last year, another 583 children have been announced and ranked in additional newly discovered groups. By the end of the year, another 1332 seats are announced in:

The municipality assures that another 8 kindergartens will be expanded in the Mladost, Izgrev, Lozenets, Vitosha, Sredets, Serdika and Novi Iskar regions. Thus, 643 seats will be provided for another 26 groups (7 nursery and 19 garden).

The Sofia Municipality will open more than 4300 seats in the period 2025 – 2027 with the construction of new, upgrading and expansion of existing kindergartens, with funding provided with its own funds and pledged in the capital program of Sofia and external funding.

Currently, over 46,000 children are raised in the municipal kindergartens and independent nurseries, and in the preparatory groups in the municipal schools – nearly 2 thousand.
