After the election in Romania, Grozdan Karadjov expects Bucharest to stop postponing bridges over the Danube

In response to questions from MP Martin Dimitrov, he pointed out that the construction of the key to Ruse and an intermodal terminal, which as a project was dropped from the recovery and sustainability plan, could be allocated European funding of BGN 60 million. However, an investor should be found to operate with it. According to the Minister, his location should be changed for this purpose – it is currently planned to have the terminal between the old and future bridge at Rousse, for which there is no interest from investors.

For the ferry connection at Ruse Karadjov, he said that the project was again blocked by Romania. From his words it was learned that conversations were held between Sofia and Bucharest about his priority release while the Danube Bridge was repaired, as the ferry would take about 25% of the traffic. He added that on June 4, there was a meeting on the topic between representatives of Bulgaria, Greece and Romania with the European Commissioner for Transport Apostolos Dzidzikostas, but the Romanian side postponed because of the presidential election.

Operations for overloaded trucks begin

Grozdan Karadjov announced that he had ordered the State Automobile Inspectorate to check the trucks around the logging, the aim to stop the movement of overloaded trucks. According to him, this is key because they damage the roads and are a threat to road safety. He added that the Ministry of Transport and Communications has been trying to solve the problem for about 10 years, with the last hopes being assigned to the toll system, then it is planned to stop the overloaded trucks to be stopped and drawn with portable scales, then, if there are violations, to write slips.

According to the minister, this procedure is too cumbersome to work, which is why changes to the Road Transport Act are being made, which will be calibrated at six months to the mini scales and the offenders and electronic slips can be sent. The changes are expected to be submitted to the National Assembly within two months.

Two more of the medical helicopters arrive by the end of the year

Grozdan Karadjov announced that the fourth and fifth emergency helicopter will arrive in June and December 2025. The sixth, seventh and eighth – in May, June and July next year. He added that at the moment two of the helicopters are in Sliven and the other in Sofia.

From his words he found out about a problem with the place where the helicopter in Sofia was located – above the hall of the government airport. He is of the opinion that this is absolutely unacceptable.
