After sharp words from Brussels Vucic diverted attention to the yield of lithium
Less than 24 hours after dinner with European Commission President Ursula von der Layen and European Council President Antoni Koshta Serbian President Alexander Vucic has turned a public conversation in the direction of the unusually acute criticism of the lack of reforms and the problems in the fight against corruption.
Vucic announced a weapon deal for billions of euros and asked Macron’s help in nuclear energy
Some MEPs even wanted dinner to be canceled. But in Serbia a key topic and the opposition media was the question of whether the Rio Tinto project will be approved and what it says about Europe’s policy regarding Serbia.
Up to seven or eight days
Bulgaria failed to rank the EU project for the extraction of valuable raw materials
The Rio Tinto’s Yadar project is not explicitly mentioned, as the media interlocutors in the commission did not refine whether it was part of it. Yadar is not expected to be published in the first, already published list, since Serbia is not a member of the EU.
« They are not stupid, only malicious and a little illiterate, » Vucic told his critics, pointing to the lack of the project on the list, in front of Serbian media. « Today, only projects in the EU are mentioned. And in 7 or 8 days » Yadar « will be declared as a strategic project. »
« White Gold » scored Serbia and the EU in a dead end
Valuable for the EU Mina will give Europe access to lithium reserves at a time when it is increasingly persistently seeking greater autonomy in critical materials. Her opponents believe that the EU is ready to trample Serbian democracy once again to gain access to resources.
