After an attack with drones, the largest Russian port of the Black Sea is in a state of

The mayor of the Russian port city of Novorossiysk announced a state of emergency on Saturday after local authorities announced that an attack with Ukrainian drones had damaged a grain terminal and several residential buildings, injuring five people.

It is the largest Russian port in the Black Sea, the busiest and one of the leaders in Europe in volume of cargo.

  • Situated in the Krasnodar region, it has the longest (17 km) of ports (over 90 in number) in Russia.
  • According to 2017 data, ie. Prior to the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic and sanctions due to Russian aggression against Ukraine, it has cultivated 143.5 million tonnes of loads (about 18% of the country’s entire cargo-of-the-art), incl. oil, grain, coal, fertilizers, wood.
  • Nearby is the main oil Russian terminal in the Black Sea, also serving Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
  • After a series of Ukrainian attacks on naval sites in Crimea, a significant portion of the Black Sea fleet was preceded in the area.

So far, there is no comment from Ukraine, where the Air Force has said Russia has attacked Ukraine at night with 183 drones and two ballistic missiles.

Mayor Andrei Kravchenko was filmed to check the damage to three residential buildings in Novorosiysk in a video posted in his official Telegram profile. The video shows debris scattered in front of residential buildings, a crushed car, slaughtered windows and balconies hanging from the facade of the buildings. Kravchenko said a wounded woman was in a hospital in serious condition. Two children were also injured, local authorities said.

The governor of the southern Krasnodar region of Veniamin Kondratiev said that debris from falling drones had also damaged three storage facilities in a grain terminal in Novorossiysk, causing a fire. No one was injured, he said. Delo Group, the owner of the damaged grain terminal, said they were cleaning and the fire was extinguished.

The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that at night over the Black Sea – and not only in the area of Novorossiysk – 8 British cruise missiles « Storm Shadow » and three Ukrainian rockets « Neptune -MD » were removed and 14 Ukrainian unmanned boats were destroyed.

The Crimean bridge was closed around midnight for traffic, and Russian military bloggers say a Russian combat airplane (probably the Su-30) was removed from a novi-dinner system on a marine drone.
