The railway unions that have already deposited the work 23 times since the beginning of this year in protest against, among other things, the pension plans of the De Wever government, are going to suspend their actions for the time being. They agree to start negotiations with Minister of Pensions Jan Jambon and during that negotiation period the action plan of sectoral strikes is suspended, it sounds in a joint press release of ACOD Spoor, ACV Transcom, VSOA Spoor, OVS and ASTB.

The negotiations on the pensions of civil servants are done at intersectoral level, Gunther Blauwens of ACOD Spoor explains. The rail unions are involved when it comes to specific issues related to their status. It is expected that these negotiations can take a few months.
The sectoral action plan is therefore suspended during that period, but that does not mean that the track will no longer be stopped at all. « We will participate in the intersectoral actions, such as those of 20 May of the ACOD, » said Blauwens. The exam period would then be protected from strikes.
In the press release it also sounds that these « requires decisions that each party fulfills its commitments ». The supporters will be informed on a regular basis about the progress in the file.
The rail unions also agreed on Wednesday that they will present the preliminary agreement that they reached with guardianship minister Crucke to their supporters. That preliminary agreement is about the powers of HR Rail, but the precise content will only be communicated later.
