Horná Nitra. The case of a wild boar, who was moving in Malá Čaus near Prievidza near the kindergarten last weekend and showed signs of infection with the African Sea of Pigs, is not unique in the region.
According to the head of Prievidza veterinarians, the disease is gradually spreading across the country, and it has been registered in Upper Nitra for about the third year.
The Prievidza region belongs to the so -called area two, in which the disease occurs in wild boar, but have not yet infected pigs. In the region, measures apply to prevent the spread of the virus and especially the penetration into breeds. They apply to breeders, but also to hunters. The situation has not yet requested the publication of a ban on the forest for the public.
African pigs do not endanger people or pets except pigs.
The results always confirm the analysis
According to hunters, the behavior of the wild boar, which appeared on Sunday 25 May in Malá Čaus, could signal the infection of the African Sea of Pigs.
« It showed signs of abnormal behavior by coming directly to the village on a white day, » explained Marek Hano, a manager of the Breza Hunting Association.
He added that other symptoms of the disease may be that the wild boar is apathetic, has slow reflexes, loses shyness because he suffers from high fever. After the destruction, it is possible to observe the reddish skin predominantly on the abdomen and in the genital or rectum area. Bleeding from body openings may be present at an advanced stage of the disease.
If hunters discover an animal that shows signs of infection or abnormal behavior, they can catch it.
However, even these signals are not enough to confirm the infection, this can be definitively detected by the analysis of samples performed by the State Veterinary Institute in Zvolen. The results are usually known within 24 hours.
The results of the samples from Malá Čaus should be available on Wednesday afternoon.
