Aeroflot increased international transport against the backdrop of demand for demand
Aeroflot passenger traffic passenger traffic (MOOEX: AFLT) The fourth month in a row is reduced on the interior lines. Since January, the carrier has served 4% less passengers within the country than the same period a year earlier, but increased the volume of international transport by 8.4%. Internal air transportation as a whole in the industry stagnates against the background of international growth, which some explain by saving the park resource. But experts associate a tendency with a surge of demand for foreign vacation against the background of strengthening the ruble and the desire of carriers to earn on more profitable flights.
According to the results of April, the volume of transportation on the internal lines (UPL) Aeroflot fell by 3.3% of the year, to 1.5 million people. Traffic on international air lines (MVL) grew by 15.2%, to 777 thousand people. For four months, the airline reduced transportation by behind 4% and increased by 8.4% on MVL. At the same time, the employment of the airline’s seats – 93% on VOL and 89% on MVL – is comparable with peak values of the summer of 2024. The group, which also includes “Victory” and “Russia”, served 15.6 million people in four months, increasing transportation by MVL by 4.3%, by VOL – by 1.8%.
All -Russian data on air transportation for April have not yet been published. In March, the Federal Air Transport Agency reported that the passenger flow of carriers in the first quarter decreased by a year by 1%, to 22.7 million people. Transportation on MVL in March increased by 2.2%, on VOL – decreased by 0.6%. In January – February, the drop in traffic on internal flights amounted to 3.1% a year by the year. The Federal Air Transport Agency indicated that the passenger turnover-a key indicator of civil aviation-increased by 1%, to 21 billion passenger-kilometers (PKM), in March and 0.4%, to 60.6 billion PKM, in the first quarter.

A number of Kommersant interlocutors in the industry interpret the decrease in the volume of internal transport as an indirect sign of saving the park resource. The general growth of the Aeroflot group, in their opinion, indicates a forced passenger rewind for its flights due to a lack of containers from other companies.
But the interlocutor of Kommersant in Aeroflot emphasizes that the number of groups involved aircraft is comparable to the level of 2024. He explains the decrease in the airline on the internal lines with the influence of the Shattl program-flights between Moscow and St. Petersburg, which are mainly carried out by Russia.
The Kommersant source added that the international passenger flow is growing after the launch of a large number of regional routes in Vietnam and Bali, as well as opening flights to China last year.
According to Oleg Panteleev, executive director of the Aviaport agency, the growing maximum passenger turnover (the freight capacity that the airline has and is ready to exhibit) also demonstrates that there is no talk of a shortage of the park in the industry. So, Aeroflot Airlines in April increased this indicator by 10% of the year, to 8.5 million PKM, and the entire group – by 8%, up to 13 million PKM. A more active exhibition of freight containers, the expert notes, talks about « readiness to exhibit the park, as for the summer. »
Mr. Panteleev explains that tourist transportation forms the basis of flights in the Russian Federation and the restoration of the share of international transport is explained by the strengthening of the ruble. The growth of transportation from the CIS countries due to the active return of labor migrants is associated with the same, he adds. In addition, the expert clarifies, the desire of deputies and officials to regulate prices in internal directions inevitably leads to the desire of carriers to earn on marginal foreign flights.
The deferred demand, the expansion of flight programs from the Russian Federation and the strengthening of the ruble contributed to an increase in the number of foreign reservations of tours from 15% to 30% for this summer by the year, confirmed by the vice-president of the Russian Union of Train industry Dmitry Gorin. According to him, in a number of areas such as Vietnam and Thailand, growth exceeds 60%, and in some countries the indicators exceeded the levels to the pandemic. So, the tourist flow to Turkey this year should exceed 7 million people against 6.7 million people a year earlier.
According to Mr. Gorin, an increase in the number of flights abroad led to a certain decrease in the price of the flight. This year, the average round of the tour for two per week, taking into account air tickets, varies in the range from 150 thousand to 350 thousand rubles, which is comparable to the price of rest in the Russian Federation, he points out. But, emphasizes Dmitry Gorin, the number of tourists within the Russian Federation on all modes of transport is higher than visitors: last year over 90 million people rested inside the country, and 29 million people left abroad with all goals.
