The Government today adopted proposals for amendments to seven laws under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, which will introduce an obligation twice a year to check all licenses.

Given the recent tragic developments, as the Government point out, the aim is to carry out more frequent controls of all licenses, permits and approvals or authorizations.

-Considering that many licenses, approvals, permits or authorizations are issued by the Ministry of Transport these legislative changes aim to provide a legal obligation twice a year to check all the license holders issued in accordance with the law. This certainly does not exclude the possibility of performing more controls, or more common than the law envisaged, in order to provide quality services and security of the citizens who are beneficiaries of those services from person holders- the government’s press service said.

In addition, as stated in the statement, the legislative changes provide for the subsequent controls that the appeal will not delay the enforcement or the suspension will go immediately.

-These activities confirm the government’s commitment to real, concrete progress that aims to improve the daily lives of citizens. Putting priority for efficiency and long-term development, the government remains committed and will continue to inform the public about every step taken- the government said in a statement.

Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski had previously informed that from the current controled over 3 100 licenses in the field of construction and urban planning, 479 has been found improper operation and will be seized from legal entities. He announced that the list would be submitted to the relevant institutions for further action and that with legislative changes such controls would be binding every six months, not as voluntary.

– The goal is not to punish, but the companies that voluntarily agree to the conditions provided by the law to fulfill them. The phenomenon is that at the time of submission of the request they meet the requirements, and then they cease to meet those conditions- said Deputy Prime Minister Nikoloski.
