Act of vandalism in the hero’s cemetery

The Miercurea Ciuc Municipal Police initiated an investigation after the monument in the Heroes Cemetery was vandalized, being covered with graffiti by unknown persons.

The incident was announced on the Facebook page by the National Association of Heroes Cult « Regina Maria » – Harghita Branch, which pointed out that this happens periodically due to the lack of concrete video monitoring of the area, as well as the absence of an appropriate lighting.

« Unfortunately, the International Military Cemetery in Miercurea Ciuc was vandalized again by unknown persons. From what we know, the police started the legal procedures for the identification of the authors. It is a thing that is happening periodically, unfortunately, against the lack of concrete video monitoring of the area, as well as the absence. An amount for carrying out some works to arrange this cemetery, but not realized.

At the same time, the Association reminds the fact that « heroes of several nations have been buried in this cemetery, and such incidents can attract official reactions of diplomatic representations in our country on how we know how to manage such places. »

The post also shows that the National Association of the Cult of Heroes « Regina Maria » – the Harghita Branch is open to contribute, together with the local authority, to the achievement of a project « that will ensure the highlighting of this objective according to its destination, and not only in contexts such as the one we discuss, respectively its vandalization ».

The spokesman of IPJ Harghita transmitted, in a response to the press, that the police were notified ex officio and conducts investigations in this case.
