According to the wildest Beatles theory, Paul McCartney has been dead for 60 years
Popikon Paul McCartney celebrates his 83th birthday today. The former member of the Beatles is still working in the music industry, his last album was released just a few years ago, and then, shortly, made a volume of his lyrics. It is undeniable that there is a huge professional career behind it, but many still believe that the original Paul McCartney has died for almost 60 years.
This is due to a strange rumor that was on the wings in the 60s. Many thought Paul McCartney, the Beatles musician and singer, was actually dead. According to the theory, the musician died in a car accident years earlier, in 1966, and the band, in cooperation with the authorities, concealed the tragic news and fenced a similarity to replace the singer – and this « false Paul » has been living in public ever since.
How did the rumor start?
As early as 1966, rumors began to spread to Paul’s poor health and the fact that the musician was working on solo projects because the band was on the verge of dissolution – at least the fact that they had disappeared from the public and their concerts were postponed.
For the first time in 1967, the news of Paul’s life in a car accident on January 7th. Although this was refuted, people were still interested in this topic, and this was fueled when the band producer George Martin once said that during a visit to Denver, people were hired to give up the band to distract fans from the original musicians. The newspapers and the fans continued to think about this, looking for the occasions when members of the band could do the same, and even thought that they were no longer on stage, but the Dublőr. However, this was refuted by Paul and George Harrison.

Four new Beatles films are also made: each member gets a separate section
Oscar-winning Sam Mendes will direct four new films about the Beatles band: one from the perspective of each Beatles member, BBC News wrote on Wednesday.
But fans did not take it seriously the members of the members’ denialand the rumor that Paul died is increasingly space. By the end of 1967, many were sure of this, as well as being hidden in his death, and a resemblance to public appearances. The songs were also looking for hidden references to this, especially because the Beatles started using the so-called Blackmasking method in the songs, playing back-played recordings in the background. However, in a sophisticated way that match them, elements were deliberately placed whose purpose was to confuse people.
Everything was interpreted as a sign
After that, not only the songs, but also the album covers, found signs to Paul’s death: SGT. On the rear cover of Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, the members are opposed to Paul, but Paul turns his back on the camera, and his dress has an OPD inscription, which means « officially declared dead » (officially pronounced Dead). In reality, however, this inscription is « OPP », which refers to the Ontario Police (Ontario Provincial Police). But the first cover of the album may also be eye -catching, as many believe that Paul’s death may be the reason why the suit Starr stares with a mournful look at a P -shaped flower wreath with four large flowers – referring to the bass guitar, which was Paul’s instrument in the band.
But not just SGT. Pepper’s but the Magical Mystery Tour and Abbey Road was also suspicious of peopleThe latter was thought that John was wearing a white suit on the cover because he buried his musician as a « priest », who is barefoot because he symbolizes the corpse on the album cover. This was also referred to by the detail in the Strawberry Fields Forever, which many people heard « I Buried Paul », « I buried Paul ». However, the singer later said that he actually said « Cranberry Sauce », or cranberry sauce.
In 1969, journalist Tim Harper wrote an article with conspiracy theory, listing the signs of this. This year, people were already worried about Paul’s health worldwide. Later, however, he stated that at that time, because of the Vietnamese war and other public tensions, he and other people were much more parano -ic and thus more receptive to the theory of whispering.
But how did Paul experience all this?
The rumors have caused great tension not only among fans but also members of the band. Paul felt his bandmates exclude him, and John Lennon also announced unexpectedly at that timeto leave the band. Shortly afterwards, Paul decided to retire for a less time and focus on his family.
However, the media did not leave him, as journalists went to his country home, where he was photographed and written by articles. On one occasion, the singer became so angry that he attacked the reporters. A few minutes later, however, he calmed down and fear that the pictures of his upset was published, decided to answer their questions and took a cover photo with his family. Of course, he was also asked about the rumors about his death, and he said:
« This rumor may have widespread because I haven’t been in the press much lately. I had enough press release for a lifetime and nowadays I have nothing to say. I am happy to be with my family and I will work when I work. said to Life magazine in 1969.

Never passing pain? John Lennon’s son still could not forgive his father
John Lennon was not only one of the biggest figures in rock history, but also a divisive personality who had extremely stormy privacy. The legendary singer for love, exactly for Yoko Ono, left his family, whose decision hurts his child decades later. Julian Lennon is still struggling with the past trauma he could never completely process.
Why do so many still believe in it today?
Theory has become one of the most durable conspiracy theories of pop culture. Partly because of the mythical atmosphere around Beatles, and partly because fans like to look for underlying meanings in art.
Paul’s dead conspiracy theory certainly does not stand in reality, but it has undoubtedly become a kind of modern myth, which is still interesting today. We would also support this better than the fact that 5 years ago, in 2020, a comic book was made about how it would have happened. The story was written by Paolo Barron and the drawings were made by Ernesto Carbonetti.
The Beatles heritage is still surrounded by this strange story, which appears over and over again, but is far from tense as the late 60s.
