Accepts the puppet car of her grandmother
Hörður Bent Steffensen has made the decision to revive the puppet car that has lost numerous generations over the years. The bridal car has been on a four -year break but will now rejoin children and adults this summer.
Hörður is the grandson of Helga Steffensen, the founder of the bride and says nothing else has been possible but that he was taking the reel.
« Doesn’t always talk about things, they need to be done »
Hörður worked with his grandmother in the car five summers where he got to know the car, his activities and exhibitions. They have long talked about Hörður taking the car and keeping the heritage of the bride car going.
Helga said to him one day: « It does not always talk about things, it has to be done, » which made him hit and began the preparation of the bride’s return. Helga and Herdi come together well and Helga has often told him that it would not be possible to let anyone else accept this.
No grants for the project
Hörður envisaged that the City of Reykjavik would be included in the project, where the city had so far taken care of the car and, for example, paid players wages. However, the bridal car received nothing now, no funding, neither from the City of Reykjavik nor the children’s funds such as Rannís. This meant that Hörður had to take care of everything on his own.
Hörður blew a collection at the Karolina Fund, which is a kind of collection page where people can contribute to the car with financial grants. He set the goal at 1.3 million in the beginning and raised about 500,000 kr. However, he says he did not know that he needed to reach the goal in order to get the money and therefore had to put himself out of his own pockets to the fund to get the money out.
Lilli gets a facelift and more fixes
Hörður says the money has helped buy a car and make it up. He had to find the old movie, fix the brides and find old plays. He is grateful to those who joined the project where they helped to make this dream a reality. All in all, it took about nine months to do everything even though the process had started last summer.
A number of things had to be repaired, and he says Lilla monkey, for example, has had to get a facelift. The actors in the group are four and Hörður says the show is almost the same as it was in the years before, but it has been improved.

Summer looks good
Hörður says the summer looks good, the car has been booked in many parts of the summer and often two shows a day. He says he plans to go around the country and intends to thread outdoor festivals around the country.
The premiere was last Tuesday at the Árbæjar Museum. Hörður points out that the car’s schedule can be accessed at brudubillinn.is.
Hörður says he is looking forward to introducing the bridesmaid car to a new generation. He says blood, sweat and tears have gone into making this dream a reality and says he is excited for the summer.
