About ten million gathered for Gaza residents
Almost ten million krónur was raised in the Red Cross emergency collection in Iceland (RKI) for the people of Gaza. The collection began in January and is now over.
« Once again, Icelanders show that they are present for people in great distress, » says Sólrún María Ólafsdóttir, team manager of the International Projects at the Red Cross, in a statement issued by the RKI.
It also states that the collection was an answer to the emergency request of the Palestinian Red Crescent, which is the Red Cross Movement's national community just like the Red Cross in Iceland. The money will be used for well -defined projects aimed primarily at trying to ensure people's access to health care, food, clean water and shelter.
« The goal is to give residents GASA vital humanitarian aid, » says Sólrún in the announcement.
