As I was passing through Lithuania at Easter, I wondered how much and how we, the Balts, are different from each other. One, of course, the language in which we can also guess this is also purely intuitively, but without learning to fully do not understand everything, even by driving south of Latvia, where else to the north. But the rest?

Surrounded by perfectly cleaned places and the corners of the locals have long forgotten. And yet. We are different. Both in temperament, thinking, and in the way we judge and perceive the world around us and ourselves. Does this mean that each of the three Baltic countries will have gone its own way, a very different way? All of this comes to mind, even as May 4, a date that has always made me think more about not so much about Latvia as the restoration of independence of the whole region. Perhaps the greatest expression of freedom and the gift should be considered that we can choose exactly how and what we associate with? That we can argue fully whether the cold soup already has to provide potatoes or bread. That’s it – for illustration, of course. But something very liberating and beautiful is, because at the same time, the big things are clear, is it clear, right?

In random conversations with random neighbors, we usually come to this conclusion, and usually everyone laughs that even in stereotypes, we have some grain of truth about each other. And in some way, this consciousness is strengthening, especially in the context of world events.

Therefore, in a week, which takes on not only Easter and the Pope, but also April, just that – the Neighborhood’s power – also wants to stay. Perhaps this is the best way to wait for the May celebration is aware of your strengths.
