The National Film Center is the leading institution of the Latvian Film industry, which also includes the availability of Latvian audiovisual cultural heritage in Latvia and the world, and in this respect the NCC portal is increasingly important in this respect Movies.lvwhere you can watch about 500 Latvian films (feature films of different lengths, animation, documentaries and cinema magazines) every day – in 2024, films featured on the portal were viewed almost 200,000 times. In special cases, the portal's offer is supplemented with new film collections, and online festivals are held several times a year, which are available to viewers worldwide for a specific time.
Such a resource for availability of films is also unique and important at European level, where international events are highly appreciated by the preservation and promotion of Latvia's restored film heritage – on the portal Movies.lv There is also a section of Latvian film classics, where 30 restored films from the Latvian Cinema History Gold Foundation (18 feature films, 6 documentaries and 6 animated films) are ongoing.
Portal Movies.lv The content is developed in cooperation with the Latvian National Archives State Filmofonodophonodophonodine Archives (LNA VKFFDA) and Latvian Film Studies, but the technical processes are provided by the Cultural Information Systems Center (KISC). The portal is free of charge at any time online throughout Latvia, where the Internet is available. Supplementing the constantly available collection of Latvian cinema history in 2024 on the portal Movies.lv 60 films have been re -posted, and 503 films can be watched online at the moment. It should be noted that the National Film Center is regularly settled with the Copyright Agency AKKA/LAA for the Latvian films to receive the authors of the films for the use of their work.
2024 Movies.lv There are 13 special events – film collections and festivals, where specially designed film selections are available to viewers. The Latvian Film Marathon and the National Kino Film was available around the world in 2024 Great Kristaps Online programs (14 movies and 12 movies respectively) and two festivals – Midsummer (5 movies) and Patriots' week (14 films) for the second year in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the territory of Latvia, nine specially designed film programs were screened in the year – actor Eduard Paul, director Ilona Brewer, Arvids Krieva and Ivars Selecka's anniversary collections (59 films), the most important works of cinema artist Ieva Romanova (14 films), Baltic Sea Documentary Maris Putnins (15 films), actress Baiba Indriksone (8 films), founder of the drawn animation Rose Stiebra (16 films).
Portal Movies.lv Also in 2024, the availability of Latvian film heritage online continues to take care of the latest collection of 12 films dedicated to director and educator Peter Krilov, who has just received a prize Great Kristaps for a lifetime contribution to cinema art.
