Abolition of the AHV Plafond is intensified imbalance
Advantage before: Individual pensions would be devastating for women
Today, a Plafonds limits the AHV pension from spouses to 150 percent. The middle wants to abolish fairness and the pension plan fund. New figures show that this would increase the imbalance to unmarried.
Who benefits from the AHV? The most important pillar of old-age provision is based on a sophisticated system: If you earn a lot, you pay high AHV wage taxes, but get the same maximum pension as a person with a lower wage: a maximum of CHF 2520 per month. However, this redistribution does not apply to everyone. Married couples together receive a maximum of 150 percent of the maximum pension, i.e. a maximum of CHF 3780. The center party has long since estimated this couple plan fund as « unfair » and wants to abolish it.
A first look at the retirement pensions in 2023 shows that the pensions of 89 percent of all couples living in Switzerland were planned. According to the Federal Office for Social Insurance, these pensions would have been 300 francs per month on average without plans.
The first glance is deceptive, as new calculations by the Federal Office show. The married couple can certainly be interpreted as a disadvantage for married couples. However, for an overall view, the many advantages must also be included in the consideration that only married couples are entitled to. And these weigh heavily.
