Aalborg Zoo has buzzed with the joy of the newborn orangutan that came to the world a few weeks ago – but it is far from the only news in the garden.

The summer of 2025 also offers a brand new framework for guests’ coffee breaks.

Guests at Aalborg Zoo can in future enjoy well -known coffee favorites from Starbucks® in new and green surroundings.

It informs Aalborg Zoo in one press release.

The former greenhouse café has just reopened as the orangery-a modern breathing hole in the middle of the garden with a focus on quality, relaxation and an improved guest experience.

In the past, Penny Lane Café has been housed in the premises, but now it is Aalborg Zoo himself who is behind both concept and operation.

After a thorough renovation, the café has been transformed into a café experience where the taste of Starbucks® goes hand in hand with the lovely atmosphere and green atmosphere in the zoo.

« We have wanted to create a gathering point in the middle of the garden where guests can take a break and enjoy a good cup of coffee in quiet and green surroundings, » says Henrik Vesterskov Johansen, director of Aalborg Zoo.

Global taste in local surroundings

The new café concept is aimed at both local guests and the increasing number of international visitors who make their way past Aalborg Zoo every year.

The recognized coffee committee and the visual expression of Starbucks® will be recognizable to many, helping to create a safe and quality -conscious coffee break in the garden.

The orangery is centrally located by the large lawn opposite Skovbakken and forms a natural meeting place for the garden’s guests.

The new café is part of a major development in Aalborg Zoo in 2025, where investments have been made to improve both facilities and experiences.

Earlier this year, a new entrance with an improved ticket system and a new store was inaugurated – a solution that has already reduced the wait at the entrance significantly and created a more flexible and welcoming arrival for guests.

On June 21, Aalborg Zoo will also open a new and larger plant for Red Panda, where the pandas are also joined by Japanese cranes moving into the garden for the first time.
