A sign of peace!

Putin speaks on the phone with Pope Leo XIV. From the conversation it is known that the Pope asked Putin to give a sign of peace. But a sign of peace? What did you really ask Leo XIV?

We need to have the perception and true knowledge of existing conflicts in the world. Ukraine and Gaza are, perhaps, the most media conflicts, but we cannot ignore that the world is gradually set on fire.

It is not enough to think of a sign of peace from Putin. We need to conceive an international order of peace that has real power to guarantee a just and peaceful life for 21st century men.

When they tell me of progressives and conservatives, I always think of the sense of words… What is it, in reality, to be progressive? The one who accompanies the progress of human life is progressive. One who refuses to accompany progress and crystallizes in the ideas of the past is a conservative. This means that human society has experienced progress in its culture and its way of living.

The evolution of the world, knowledge, science, computer science and many other areas has brought a huge quality of life for human life. The quality of life we ​​have today in Portugal does not compare with the one we had when I was born almost fifty years ago.

Really, we can say that there is a progress in the knowledge and life of contemporary man who has no comparison with any other period of our history. However, the progress of knowledge and quality of life is not a sign of civilizational evolution. At least we cannot say that the progress we have watched is a guarantee of just and peaceful life.

The years we have lived, the wars, the persecution, the revolts, the revolutions, the collective discontent indicate that progress is not the basis of peaceful life.

Ukraine and Russia show us how progress has served the defense, on the one hand, but also of destruction. What is going on in Israel is not exactly the result of progress… In fact, I would say that there were not many progress in centuries. As we can talk about progress, when we have groups of terrorists with thousands of members who want destruction and death: Hamas is not really defending his people… If he was already delivered the hostages and would have already taken off the stage of war.

France also shows us that progress has not reached all points in the city of lights, when to celebrate the victory of a soccer group (PSG) fire a city. The same happened in Portugal: to fight racism, cars, buses, streets, houses…

Perhaps it is time for us to give a sign of peace and progress, based on the instruction of children who develop their rational capacity and not so much in a causes education that raises walls among men.

Putin will have to give a sign of peace… The world, however, will have to rethink the progress that has built so that we do not create a corporate spot in multiple Putin (s) and terrorists.

Because peace comes from the development of dialogue capacity and there will never be dialogue without the development of reason. The pursuit of Enlightenments for an order of reason regardless of religion should have a new edition, but now, seeking an order of reason regardless of ideologies…
