A redder, more radical and tax hungry future?

A redder, more radical and tax hungry future?

At a time when political landscape is constantly changing, we now see a worrying development on the part of the Labor Party. For the first time, Jonas Gahr Støre opens the door glowing for a formal collaboration with Red, and even more alarming, he will not blankly reject government cooperation.

With today’s measurements that hardly give a majority to the sitting government, Støre can quickly become dependent on both SP, SV, Red and MDG to retain power after the next election.

This is a shift that should worry everyone who is concerned about stability, economic reason and Norway’s place in the world. It is not long since Red himself opened for government cooperation or binding cooperation in the Storting, in a desire to secure a left -wing government. When Støre now responds with an open door, it sends a clear signal of a potential turn in Norwegian politics that can have dramatic consequences in Finnmark as well.

Red has a fundamentally different view of society than the vast majority of Norwegians. Their ideology is based on revolution and communism, with a clear agenda on increased taxes, massive state governance and a more secluded role for Norway in international cooperation. If Red gets a decisive position for Støre, it can change Finnmark as we know it in a way that will be difficult to reverse.

My worries are great if red were to have real influence. First, I am deeply concerned about our safety. Red’s desire to report Norway out of NATO will isolate us in a troubled world and weaken our collective security, which is especially critical for us living in the county bordering on totalitarian Russia. Secondly, their tax policy. In its alternative state budget for 2024, Red has proposed a total of NOK 40 billion in increased taxes.

At a time when the security policy situation in Europe is excited, and how financial responsibility is more important than ever, the idea of a government cooperation with such a radical party as red is frightening. A vote for Støre is an opening for Red to gain power and influence, which could mean increased taxes, increased insecurity and less freedom for the Norwegian people. The choice is between whether we are going to secure Finnmark for the future, or should we risk an experiment with a redder, more radical and tax hungry policy?
