According to Iran International, spokesman for the National Crisis Management Center, Hossein Zafari, said that sabotage is an unlikely cause of explosion in the port.
The probable cause of the explosion is to be chemical materials stored in containers. Earlier inspections indicated security problems. « Previous safety warnings in the port reduce the likelihood of sabotage, » Zafari said.
He also added that toxic smoke from the fire hinders the rescue operation, and the full cause will be determined after the fire was mastered. So far, the full balance of victims has not been announced.
