A plane with 242 people in India / day

Amdavad’s police commissioner Gsmalik said 204 fatal corpses have been found so far, while 41 people receive medical attention. Malik added that there were passengers in the airplane and the people in the buildings where the plane crashed.

Although it was initially reported that all passengers of the aircraft had been killed, it has now been confirmed that one survivor has been in the hospital.

AFP reports that the plane crashed near the hospital, and the broadcaster BBC reports that the tail of the aircraft has fallen to the building where the doctors were living. The front of the aircraft, on the other hand, crashed into a student canteen.

The Boeing 787-8 aircraft, which was scheduled to go to the Gettwick airport of London, fell about five minutes after taking off near the airport in AMDav.

The Indian Civil Aviation Authority reports that there were 242 people on the plane, including two pilots and ten crew members.

According to Air India, out of 230 passengers 169 were Indian citizens, 53 – British, one for Canadian and seven – Portuguese citizens.

Director General of Civil Aviation Directorate Faiz Ahmed Kidway announced that Air India flight AI 171 five minutes after taking off a residential area.

« Our office is located near the building where the plane crashed. We saw people from the building jumping from the second and third floor. The aircraft was in flames, » an emergency eyewitness told AFP.

The AMDAVAD Airport is closed until further announcements.
