A parachute jumper died in Nowy Targ. Fell from a high height
The event confirmed « The fact of « Nowotarska Police. – In the afternoon, at Jana Pawła II Street, near a gas station, a parachute jumper collapsed from the height. He was a man aged about 40 years old – senior asp. Łukasz Burek from the Poviat Police Headquarters in Nowy Targ told us.
A helicopter of the Air Ambulance Service was ordered. Firefighters secured the landing pad. But despite the rapid rescue operation, the man’s life could not be saved.
According to preliminary information, there may have been problems with parachute, although the exact course of the event is not yet known.
Policemen work on site and try to determine the cause of the accident. Aircraft accident research is also addressed to the incident. It is possible that the situation has been registered by monitoring, which will help investigators to recreate the last seconds of the jump.
What happened in the air?
Investigators will determine whether the equipment has failed or whether there was a human mistake. One thing is certain. The impact force was huge. The man fell from a height from which he rarely has a chance to survive.
Parachutists love this place
Parachute jumps in Nowy Targ are not unusual. Although no competitions were held, Sunday jumps were typically recreational. The sight of paratroopers floating over the city on weekends is everyday life here. Picturesque surroundings and experienced staff have been attracting adrenaline fans for years.
– Virtually every Saturday and Sunday, if the weather is great, jumping for enthusiasts is organized – says a policeman present at the site of the tragedy.
There is an aeroclub nearby, which conducts training and flights for many years. The airport from which the jumper started is located less than three kilometers from the scene of the accident.
