Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, today, on the draft report of the European Parliament (EP) rapporteur for the country, Thomas Weitz, after which the EP Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET) has to say tomorrow, noted that there was a number of telephone conversations.

On the eve of tomorrow’s vote, Mickoski said in response to a journalist question that yesterday along with Foreign and Foreign Minister Timco Mucunski, as well as other government officials, had achieved a number of telephone conversations, but, as he said, « wait for tomorrow ».

– Not voting tomorrow in the European Parliament, but tomorrow passes the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET). Yesterday I had a number of telephone conversations, the Foreign Minister also talked to other people in the day, so that we would wait for tomorrow’s day – said Mickoski.

This comes after today’s debate in the Affet dedicated to EU enlargement, the situation in Ukraine and the block policy of the bloc, where Bulgarian MEP Stanislav Stojanov of the Nationalist Renaissance Party pointed out that Bulgaria in 2022 was the one that had raised the process of veto and the country’s veto. The country, these are between Macedonia and the European Union.

Speaking to Weitz’s draft report, which is due to vote tomorrow, Stojanov said there was « leaking information » during the preparation of the report, after which Prime Minister Christian Mickoski « expressed dissatisfaction » by some of the submitted amendments to the document. Stojanov stressed that MEPs received information on unannounced meetings of the « main report draft » with the Macedonian authorities and to violate the rules of transparency of the European Parliament.

State President Gordana Siljanovska – Davkova, meanwhile, expects the EP to support a resolution that guarantees the Macedonian identity and language, otherwise, as she said today, answering journalist questions, it will speak very badly about the democratic capacity of the EP. According to the president, the Resolution on Macedonia, which was adopted by the Bulgarian Parliament, is offensive and with it from the start disables joint step through dialogue.

In the draft report for Macedonia of the EP rapporteur for the country, Weitz, meanwhile, has several references to the recognition of the Macedonian language and the Macedonian identity, which he said last week in an interview with « 360 Degrees » that he was attacked by Bulgarian MEPs, but that « there is no doubt that Macedonians are Macedonian ».
