A night full of art and history
What happens when museums and spaces with deep cultural and historical legacy open their doors at night? When spaces that usually host silent history fill voices, music and people of all ages? A unique experience is born, which helps us to better understand the world we live in today, through the encounter with art, history and culture.
OR This year’s European Museum Night on « Museums and Societies in Constant Change » It was such an experience when History buildings welcomed the public and flooded with sounds, images and colorsacting as signs of expression and dialogue. In this way they redefined their relationship with society, confirming their role as living cultural institutions.
So on Saturday, May 24, from early afternoon to late at night, in a historic Athens area, In her historical archive National Bankover 400 visitors participated in a multidimensional program full of music, art and creation. They took part in workshopsthey watched Exhibitions of Modern Artists and Studentsthey enjoyed music events And they discussed art, experiencing unique moments.
Kids and adults left their imagination free and gave shape to their ideas With papers and colors, participating in workshops that encouraged creative thinking. In addition, the public had the opportunity to travel with the music events organized, which included piano recital by Eliza Zervakis (Apollonio Conservatory) and the COMPARTE choir concert under the direction of Vassos Kariotis, with the participation of Albia Kovani Kovani.
Of particular interest were the works of contemporary artists presented, inspired by historical evidence and archive materials.proving that the past can be transformed into a contemporary artistic narrative.
At the same timethe exhibition « The D of the Rights », a co -organization of the Network for the Rights of the Child and Four Primary Education Departmentshe hosted works by 50 illustrators, as well as students from all over Greece, dedicated to the rights of the child. Small groups were standing in front of the works, observing, discussing and participating in a spontaneous dialogue on the art, the daily life and the values that associate them.
All this was done in the National Bank’s Historical Archive, as part of an initiative aimed at bringing culture closer to society, in a meaningful and inclusive way.
Such nights remind us that the story is not something distant and static, but something alive, evolving and continues Written through the art, education and participation of all of us.
And the museum night may have passed, but the doors of the historical archive do not close. By June 20th the space remains open and invites those who want to see the reports each Monday (10: 00–14: 00), Wednesday (10: 00–14: 00 & 16: 00–20: 00) and Thursday (16: 00–20: 00)with free admission.
