A new verdict has arrived: Croatia will have to pay Hungarian MOL $ 200 million

US Federal Court In Washington, he rejected Croatia’s request to reject the Hungarian MOL order for the implementation of the arbitration of 2022, once again confirmed by the International Legal Power of Arbitration Judgment and the obligations of the states to investors in accordance with international contracts, writes Vecernji List. Now Croatia has to pay off them $ 200 million.

It is a compensation that two and a half years ago, as part of a long and complex arbitration procedure, made a decision International Center for Solving Investment Disputes (ICSID), which operates under the auspices of the World Bank. The arbitration court then ruled in favor of the Hungarian Energy Company MOL, considering that Croatia had violated one of its contractual obligations under the ownership of ownership relations in INA, a common oil company in which both parties have stakes.

Croatia then tried to challenge the application of arbitration decisions before the US court, claiming that there were reasons why the verdict should not be executed in the US territory.

Such arguments are rejected, giving the mole a legal basis that, in the event of non -payment, it may request a forced payment.
