A new street will be launched at the future Tareta Tunnel soon

According to the capital’s municipality on Monday, the new 568 -meter long street will connect the future tunnel and Tarandės Street, and its construction is planned to be completed by autumn this year.

According to the municipality, a new ring intersection will be installed near Tarandė and Edinburgh streets at the end of the new street.

Vilnius Municipality undertook to build a connecting road and to reconstruct Bukiškio Nesvyžius Street.

« In the course of its obligations, the Vilnius City Municipality has prepared and confirmed the detailed plan of the 7.9 hectares near Ukmergės Street and redeemed 6 land plots from private individuals, » the report states.

BNS wrote that the Tarande tunnel is expected to be built by May 2026. The tunnel is built at a distance of 300 meters from the Emsi gas station, driving towards Ukmergė for $ 6.2 million. YIT Lietuva is building EUR 1 million.

According to the Vilnius District Municipality, the construction of the tunnel will increase the permeability of transport in settlements at the turn of the district and the city, which have been growing rapidly in recent years.

High congestion at the turn to Tarande has been developing daily since 2017, when the Vilnius Western Bypass was opened. Installing a tunnel should not be left or significantly reduced and the risk of traffic accidents will be minimal.
