A new parking arrangement presented very well
A new parking arrangement at Keflavik Airport, which came into effect in March, was presented very well. Isavia went on an advertising campaign and all the media received information on the changes, according to Guðjón Helgason, Isavia’s information officer.

He also points out that the first 15 minutes of the P1 car parking are toll-free and therefore ideal for those who need more than five minutes to act to use them.
In a statement from Isavia in February, the « slide » is intended for those who need to drive up to the terminal and stop for a short time to release passengers, release luggage or other cargo. There have been some drivers in the « slide » cars for a long time, which damages the flow of traffic and can restrict the access of passengers and responders.
Gudjon says over 80% of those who use the « flow » need less than five minutes to act in the area, according to the results of the « flow » use over a month’s period. However, 8% of cars needed in the range of 16-20 minutes.
To counter it and promote improved flow through the « flow », a fee was charged on the vehicles that are longer than five minutes to operate in the area.
Gudjon says that the median use according to the examination did not reach three minutes, which shows that five minutes are normal.
He says the changes have been very well prepared to find the right point and the main purpose of getting people to stop parking their cars in this particular area that many go through.
