A new CVK chairman hopes to approve next week / day

At least ten members of the Saeima may nominate candidates for this position.

This has to be done by Tuesday at 4 pm, but it is planned to approve a new CVK chairman on June 19.

The Law on the Central Election Commission stipulates that the CEC is a permanent and elected state institution whose responsibilities include the preparation and leadership of the Saeima, the European Parliament, the elections, as well as the referendum and the proposal of the people.

The CEC has nine members. The chairman of the commission and the seven election committees are elected by the Saeima, but one member from the judges is the Supreme Court in its plenary session.

If a member of the commission ends the commission, the Saeima or the Supreme Court shall elect another member of the commission.

A new chairman of the CEC should be sought, as the former chairman Kristine Saulīte resigned.

It has already been reported that Saulīte announced on Wednesday at the beginning of the Saeima Public Administration and Local Government Commission that he would resign, but had already thought after the meeting, saying that he had not yet decided.

However, on the evening of the same day, the sun turned to the Saeima’s Bureau with a statement of resignation. Until then, the Saeima’s ruling coalition factions have also announced that they had agreed on the withdrawal of the sun.

State President Edgars Rinkēvičs announced after the elections that the CEC and the State Digital Development Agency (VDAA) failed to organize the election, so the responsibility of the officials should be assessed.

Inga Berzina (JV), the Minister of Supervisory Administration and Regional Development of the VDAA, has suspended VDAA Director Joren Liop in connection with the elections in the election, but on Wednesday he also announced its resignation.

Liopa has not yet taken responsibility for the technical problems of the Election Night. In parallel, the VDAA has begun a detailed inspection at all levels of the Agency’s responsibility, from directly to the responsible employees for the electoral system, ending with developers and auditors, for the reasons that led to the slowdown in the polls, the agency said.

Meanwhile, the director of the State Chancellery, Raivis Kronbergs, told reporters on Monday after a meeting of the Interinstitutional Task Force that the service is currently undergoing a vote -counting service, as it was initially necessary to collect all the necessary and accessible information about what happened.
