A municipality stands out – here the most Wegovy is sold in Denmark
Wegovy is developed by Novo Nordisk and contains the drug Semaglutide.
It mimics the body’s natural satiety hormone and thereby helps users eat less.
The drug is given as a weekly injection and requires prescription.
It is especially developed for overweight people, but has also found its way to other user groups – and consumption has increased steadily.

Surprisingly top scorer
While one might think that the largest cities were in front, the numbers show something else.
In fact, a medium -sized municipality tops the statistics with as much as 550 doses per year. 1,000 inhabitants – well above the national average of 344.
This is the Kalundborg Municipality, which tops the list.
According to the mayor of the municipality, the explanation may be found in the fact that Novo Nordisk has their largest production facility in precisely Kalundborg and therefore some employees.
The employees here receive reimbursement for the medicine – however under the same conditions as everyone else, including prescription and taxation.
Here is the greatest consumption
Another municipality, not far from there, has the most real users of Wegovy.
In Stevns Municipality has 53.4 people per person. 1,000 inhabitants had the drug on prescription.
In comparison, the top scorer for sales is only slightly lower, namely 53.
Common to both municipalities-and eight others in the top ten-is that they are located east of the Great Belt.
