The idea of creating a bayopic that would tell one of the periods of life arose from Michael Brinia during one of the many conversations with Mustafa Dzhemilev. Then, 10 years ago, the screenwriter seemed particularly interesting to his life in exile to Yakutia in the Far East of the USSR. Michael explains that he was attracted to the effect of a double prison – life in the Soviet Union and a concentration camp, which gives himself a peaceful city and in which Prison Mustafa lives like an ordinary man: he works and earns money.

During the exile of Mustafa AGA, the rusty cylinders fills with oxygen and rolls them to the pier of the Kolyma River. It is a monotonous and grueling work, and in it it is likened to the mythological Sisyphus, which continues its work – the struggle – even when there is hope that victory is almost possible.

« It is during this period of life that it seems to me that Mr. Mustafa was happy. It was this paradox that became the main impetus and the main idea of our movie, » Bruny reflects.

In this story, the screenwriter is looking for the answer to the question: « Can Sisif be happy? » Bruni assures that the team worked on the film so meticulous that every viewer can read the embedded images and see differently stories: a political, confusing detective, heroic or love story.

But Mustafi is the main thing that people look not only an artistic work.

« The community knew about the national movement of the Crimean Tatars, which were difficult times and we resisted the Soviet regime. It was difficult … Especially there is a lot of stereotypes about the Crimean Tatars, these stereotypes were very harmful to Ukraine. I would not say that they would not have been caught 100%. »– says Mustafa Dzhemilev.

This is the official part to the end and under the loud applause in the movie hall goes out. However, instead of the movie there is a video address to the audience from director Ivan Timchenko, who was unable to come to the event:

« When we started working on the movie, it was almost 10 years ago. We believed that the premiere show would take place in the Crimea. However, it happened a little different … Many people were forced to flee from war, many families lost loved ones. Without this, dreams remained unchanged and I am sure that we will return to the screen one day. Bridge. «

After completing his speech in the hall, there is a complete silence and the movie « Oxygen Station » is played on the screen.

The ribbon begins with a rather surreal painting, where the little boy sits on the field with other children and looks at the magician focuses.

The following personnel transfer us to the event of the summer of 1980 in the Yakut village of Ziryanka, where Mustafa is serving his four -year exile and works at the oxygen station.

In parallel, we are shown the story of a young teacher Safarear, who corresponded for a long time with Mustafa, but never seen him. One day she decides to come to him in Yakutia. A few days after the meeting they got together, because only so the girl could stay in the village.

Music in the movie has a special history. A Japanese composer worked on her Jun Miakeknown for his work on the film « Pina », nominee for Oscar in 2012. The soundtrack was written by Turkish singer Kalben.

According to the plan, it should have been a song that Mustafa once wrote on an audiosset for his future wife Safinar. However, the original entry could not be used, so a new, original composition was created.

Already during the reproduction of subtitles, people began to leave the film massively. He stopped the audience directly on the stairs of the last frame of the film in which already adult Mustafa again meets with a magician, but he is already different.

In the crowd, people are discussing just viewed ribbon and a few people I intercepted at the exit, they say they liked the concept of the movie. Too something that the authors made it artistic, not documentary.

One of the audience, a young guy named Maxim, says the scene where Mustafi dreamed of a prison in which he was starving, looks like « Very arthouse. » « In general, there were so many different images in the movie, but I’m not a strong connoisseur to make them out, but I have something else to think about. »

The Oxygen Station has already been presented at several European festivals: at the International Tallinn Film Festival, Slovakia. From April 10, the movie will be released.
