A man / day detained in Daugavpils for several thefts

Law enforcers received information that on May 14 in Daugavpils, a car garage cooperative had theft from two garages near each other. Initial information indicated that an unidentified person entered the garages and committed theft of property. In one case, the person stole car wheels from the garage.

The total material loss in these thefts was 680 euros.

On May 15, law enforcement officers received information on other theft in Daugavpils from a private home. The police have information that the person managed to steal cash in the amount of EUR 8,500 as they break the door, as well as a gold chain, a gold ring and a tablet « Lenovo Tab M9 ».

The total material loss in this case is 9300 euros.

Explaining the circumstances, law enforcement officers identified a person involved in criminal offenses, and on May 22, a man born in 1992 was arrested on suspicion. Law enforcers are continuing the investigation.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the man under Section 175, Paragraph three of the Criminal Law, namely theft, if committed in a vehicle, apartment or other room, or if committed from a repository or installation connecting the storage and theft of the vehicle. It is punishable by up to five years’ imprisonment, temporary imprisonment, probation supervision, social work or by a fine, with or without confiscation of property.
