A great tender for garbage collection
The current waste collection contracts were concluded in the autumn of 2023. They were to apply for a year and a half, with an extension options for a maximum of six months. This year and a half has already elapsed. Currently, contractors provide services based on the extension option. – We gradually increase the standards of waste collection places in the city: we replace the containers for underground and semi -birthdays. We build sheds. Now the municipal company, which is the ecosystem, announces a tender after which we will learn the prices of export. I remind you that according to the law, the waste system should balance. The receipts from waste fees are to cover the costs of the system. And the other way. The local government cannot earn on the garbage – comments President Jacek Sutryk.
There are over 40,000 waste collection places in Wrocław. New is that for the first time they will be divided into six sectors, and not – as before – into four. The change in the number of sectors is dictated by the dynamic development of the city in the last decade and logistics. The new zones are much more even in terms of the number of inhabitants, more homogeneous in terms of the type of building and simpler for service (shorter routes of waste collecting waste). At the same time, smaller sectors also give the tender a chance to the slightly smaller companies on the market. – We hope that the new division will positively affect not only the tender, but also on maintaining the quality of services for residents. The contractor or contractors with whom contracts for sector 5 and sector 6 will be signed will also receive waste from PSZOK in their areas: at ul. Janowska, Michalczyk and Swiss. We will open the third one on days – says Paweł Karpiński, president of the ecosystem.
From the point of view of residents, it is important to maintain the services they want. The current waste collection frequency will be maintained. The housing estates will continue to run a shed (car collecting problem). The program known as Szot (car collecting clothing and textiles) will also be continued. The latter has been traveling since February 5. Within a month of operation, about 7 tons of clothing and textiles were put into cars.
Preparations for the waste tender were held in cooperation with the CBA and ABW. – However, this was not an extraordinary action, but a completely routine procedure used for this type of public procurement. We talk about this openly to warn all speculation that could appear in public space. The tender will be fully transparent, based on the principles of fair competition and equal treatment of all starters – adds Paweł Karpiński.
