A four -year -old cavity soon hears the story to
A four-year-old hole at the foot of Húsavík Mountain will soon belong to the story after Inga Zealand, Minister of Social Affairs and Housing, and Katrín Sigurjónsdóttir, mayor of the Norðurþing, signed a contract designed to secure construction of a new nursing home in the Northern Parliament.
In 2021, shovels were taken to a new nursing home at Auðbrekka 2 and subsequently buried for the foundation of the building. However, nothing happened from the construction of the nursing home itself.
Inga Sæland, Minister of Social Affairs and Housing, says that there will now be a change. « Now we spit in the palms and secure the residents of the Northern Parliament nursing home that they have been waiting for for years. It is symbolic that we break the station by signing the contract in the hole that has collected water in recent years. Continue! » has been reported by Inga Zealand notification from the ministry.
« » The municipal councils of the Norðurþing and neighboring municipalities for a new nursing home have been for many years. It is therefore very gratifying to sign an agreement on the development of 60 spaces of nursing home in Húsavík without the responsibility of the municipalities. Sigurjónsdóttir, mayor.
Attending the signing today were the residents of the nursing home Hvamm, but the aforementioned construction site is behind it. In the new nursing home there will be 60 nursing facilities and all 54 residents of Hvamm will move over when the home is opened. The new home thus solves the older one, and the number of nursing facilities in the municipality increases by six.
According to the agreement, the Northern Parliament will provide the state plot, which in the coming days will advertise for a party to build the nursing home. Construction is expected to begin in December this year or January 2026 and will last until the end of 2027. The state will then rent the house with a lease for 20-30 years. The arrangement that was assumed when the house was excavated did not allow for a lease.
