A few seconds later that happened that didn’t have to happen

It was on January 21, 2015. The family enjoyed their last days at Phuket in Thailand after Annette’s parents, Keld and Hilda Heick, had just traveled home.

Jesper Vollmer and Annette Heick, together with sons Eliot and Storm, decided to spend the morning on the beach, as they had done several times before on the holidays.

But this day was different.

Powerful waves had scared other guests away from the beach. While most people stayed at the hotel pool, the waves attracted Jesper’s curiosity.

Jesper thinks the big waves were exciting and he would therefore take a walk in the water.

Were warned shortly before the accident

Annette Heick immediately sensed his father and warned her husband.

« She has a sixth sense and said » be careful now, « and I said I should probably run down towards the water’s edge, » Jesper remembers.

He did not listen to Annet’s intuition, and a few moments later he literally fought for his life.

Jesper jumped against the waves, but the powerful wave threw him directly down at the sandy base with violent force.

« I was completely paralyzed and lay floating around with my head underwater. My sixth neck vertebra was crushed, but I could turn my head and get air. But I was completely in panic, » he says.

Jesper Vollmer was rescued by the water at the last minute.

The dramatic incident has left deep traces in the family’s life, and both Jesper and Annette look back on the day with great seriousness and gratitude.
