An Air India passenger aircraft on the way from Hong Kong to Delhi had to disconnect his journey on Monday morning and return to the starting point after the pilot reported a suspected technical error during the flight.
It writes several foreign media, including Mirror.
The security measure comes in the wake of a tragic accident just a few days earlier, who has thrown the Indian carrier into deep crisis.
According to Hindustan Times, it was about flight AI315, which was operated on with a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. The aircraft relieved from Hong Kong’s international airport heading for India’s capital, but soon turned around as a precautionary measure.

The incident is particularly evident because Air India has already been affected by a disaster that on Thursday cost life for almost all on board. A aircraft with 242 passengers crashed shortly after departure from Ahmadabad in Gujarat and transformed a densely inhabited district into a flame sea.
Only one survived the crash
The tragedy, which is believed to have killed 169 Indian citizens, along with 52 British, seven Portuguese and one Canadian passenger, left only one survivor: British Vishwashkumar Ramesh. He sat in place 11A and has told local media that he was being thrown out of the plane when the hull suddenly broke in two. He miraculously escaped with minor injuries and says he still doesn’t understand how he survived.
After the accident, India’s aviation authorities have launched stricter security inspections of the company’s Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 models. According to the Directorate -General for Civil Aviation (DGCA), it is a « preventative measure » that must counter further events.
At the same time, the investigations of the accident continue from Thursday. One of the two black boxes was found on the same day, which according to the country’s transport minister, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, marks an important step in the clearing work.
A company in headwind
Air India has already struggled with a bleak reputation and failing confidence among travelers. The recent incidents risk cementing the perception of a company where security does not meet the standard.
Authorities have not yet confirmed what was behind the supposed technical error on Monday’s flight, but the incident is added to a large number of accidents that have hit the company in recent years. Air India has not yet commented on the episode in public.
