A drug addict's mother: It's a closed circle of hell
Offered home treatment
The adult son with a long period of drug use, supervised by women, asked for help after referral to the Republican Addiction Disease Center.
“He only got methadone there. But this is not a treatment, it is just a way to avoid narcotic abstinence. He sent him from the Center for Addictive Diseases and did not lie to the hospital. The son offered to continue using methadone and try to treat treatment at home. He offered to do so for a person who has no will to do so by taking the pills that the family doctor will prescribe in the future, ”said the mother of the person killed by the drug.
The woman said the son was admitted to Klaipeda University Hospital due to a trauma suffered.
“He was disturbed by language, we thought he was stroke. It is explained that blood spilled into the brain. It was not surgery, was connected to the fat. After hospital treatment, the son decided to apply for addiction, ”she said.
At night he smashed the car
The man was brought from the hospital by an ambulance to the addiction center. However, in the center, it was not laid for inpatient treatment.
“He called him a social taxi in the center and took him home. In the evening, a friend had already appeared to stretch him into the adventure. At night, police detained. They crashed the car while it could lie in the hospital at the time. A closed circle of hell. When was he able to work so much? ” – the woman said.
Mom admitted that he could not leave the mature son for two hours unattended.
“I think he's left for a few months. And nothing will give you help. The state treatment system is arranged. He has no will and there are no other ways. He lives in another world, he will not go anywhere, ”she said excitedly.
He did not see the desire to heal
Vaida Karulaitienė, Head of Klaipėda Branch of the Republican Center for Addictive Diseases, explained why the son of a Klaipėda resident who was complained about was not placed for inpatient treatment.
“The doctor assessed the situation. Treatment for this patient continues. It is not that he was left without help. He was offered a buprenorphin treatment. The drug is compensated. It was explained that he should receive a family doctor's referral. He can continue to visit our health facility and will be provided with help, ”said the head of the institution,
Buprenorphine is an opiooid used to treat opioid use, acute pain and chronic pain.
However, those who take this medicine develop narcotics intolerance.
“His very weak motivation for stationary treatment. The man said he wanted to heal. But during the interview with the doctor, the patient played on the phone, answered questions sluggishly or formally. If you ask him, he replies that he wants to heal. But the desire to treat does not look like this, ”assured V. Karulaitienė.
The head of the institution explained that Klaipeda branch doctors did not cure the Neurological Diseases Center of Neurological Diseases.
“But we will provide him with addiction, only on an outpatient basis. We did not drive it. It was agreed with the Klaipėda University Hospital and its arrival. His only saying is that he wants to heal, but the doctor did not see the real motivation. This means that he will have to continue to walk with us and get methadone, ”explained the head of the institution.

There are no magic tablets
The mother of the drug addicted to the drug of the drug made it possible to realize that she believed that inpatient treatment would save her son. It is supposed to be able to protect him from the influential environment after closing the drug addict, or even heal.
“No, that's not the case. We are not an institution that locks the door and wakes the patients. Patients themselves are actively visiting anonymous alcoholics or anonymous drug addicts. In the evenings, patients are released for two hours. We do not have a magical tablet to cure dependence. It is only overcome by the human motivation itself, ”assured V. Karulaitienė.
Patients in this institution, who decide to get rid of addictions, work very intensively with specialists, and receive tasks they must perform.
“Those who have some motivation can achieve remission. There are success stories. People come to meetings where they testify to their success stories, ”recalled V. Karulaitienė.
The solution is in the head
14 patients' dependence on alcohol may be admitted to the institution for stationary treatment. The treatment lasts 14 days.
For the treatment of narcotic abstinence syndrome, the patient is laid for 21 days.
Subsequently, such patients are advised to continue treatment for another 14 days in psychosocial rehabilitation.
For another 28 days, the patient may be directed to the Minnesota program.
“Those who have motivation continue their treatment in rehabilitation. In this way, remission is achieved for a period of time. But it can last for twenty or thirty years. There are relapses, but I can't say that very often happens. Some patients return. But others are able to control relapses. It all depends on education, on the individual's attitude, ”explained V. Karulaitienė.
The head of the institution acknowledged that successful treatment should not be sought only by the doors of the medical facility. The impetus to live differently must take place in the opinion of a drug addict.
“Often people want their dependent relatives to recover. I understand my loved ones very well. But addicted people have to show their desire to change, not just words, ”said V. Karulaitienė.
In the city a thousand drug addicts
Four thousand Klaipeda residents are provided with outpatient assistance at Klaipėda Branch of Klaipeda Branch.
“About 900 people receive inpatient treatment a year. These are not large numbers. There may be thousands of drug -dependent people in Klaipeda. Many people are afraid to seek treatment. They think that there will be records in health history. But we have a program for anonymous treatment. People can apply without disclosing their identity, but they have to pay for it. Treatment and consultation cost, ”explained V. Karulaitienė.
The health system does not cure anonymous, so such treatment is paid.
« It is cheaper for treatment than drinking or taking drugs, » stressed V. Karulaitienė.
She thinks a bright and sober life is a much more valuable perspective than a record in health history.
“People are afraid and do not seek help. And the problem only deepens. For the family and society, it becomes only an even bigger problem with time. Addiction is a disease. It should be treated. After all, we are not ashamed of other diseases, ”said the head of the institution.
Pediatric drug addiction thrives
In this center, treatment is also offered to minors.
“Children's day hospital is up to three months with a continuous learning process. According to unofficial knowledge, there are many children caught in drugs in Klaipeda. But officially, very few parents with such children are approached. The reason is the same. Parents are afraid of recording in the child's health history. But they do not realize that this is the problem only deepens, ”assured V. Karulaitienė.
Some time ago, the situation was checked for drug use in the port city schools. Studies have found narcotics in almost all educational institutions checked.
Treatment is cheaper than drinking or taking drugs.
“It shows the extent of consumption. It is difficult to say how many children in the port city may be harmful or risky. Both of us and other institutions make great efforts for the well -being of such children. Treatment is not a shame. Attempts are made to explain it to parents. If this cannot be resolved at home, then treatment is already needed, ”the head of the institution emphasized.
V. Karulaitienė reminded her conversation with the youth of one professional education institution.
“A huge percentage of young people said they knew where to get drugs. I don't know, and they know who and where to write to get. I understand that illegal substances are easily accessible, ”the woman horrified.
She recalled that a few years ago, how many children had been hospitalized for drugs a year.
« It was mentioned that over 200. However, only a few continued with specialized treatment. The parents of all other children stated that they would handle the problem at home. They are very wrong with thinking so, ”the specialist explained.
V. Karulaitienė considered that the desire to dizzy in society was determined by the high pace of life and the loads of life.
“People are looking for calm. Many young people survive stress. They are experiencing too much loads and the attention of relatives is too little. Adults also survive stress. There are endless duties, ever -end tasks, high pace leads to the desire to look for what would help to relax. Loneliness also leads to addiction. One has to find some pleasure for himself, ”said V. Karulaitienė.
