A dangerous salivary threatening. The disease spreads to the neighborhood: ‘Our tourist season is also threatened’
It is in Slovakia Due to an infectious disease of the salivary and paw, a state of emergency was proclaimed, while Austria decided to rigorous measures to close borders towards Slovakia and Hungary, where the first cases were also recorded last week. Our Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has brought extent that forbids the intake of animals of susceptible diseases from Hungary and Slovakia, just like the intake of products obtained from these animals after March 1. All packs, cattle, pigs, goats and sheep are threatened.
All further decisions, they told us at the Ministry, will be made depending on the development of the situation. No case has not yet been recorded in our country, and what is necessary to declare a state of emergency and what are possible for the consequences if the disease appears, we asked prof. Dr. Vladimir Stevanović from the Institute of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Zagreb.
“If it appears The first case, it is immediately declared an extraordinary situation because it is the most deception of all infectious diseases whose wind can take the wind hundreds of miles away. Current measures in Croatia are good and sufficient, and we all closely monitor the situation, we are in contact with colleagues from countries where the disease already exists. There are a large farm with thousands of animals. I sincerely hope that they will be able to suppress the infection because the development of further events in Croatia depends on this – explains Prof.dr. Stevanovic, adding that people suffer in extremely rare cases, but they can transfer the virus, for example, on their hair or clothing.
If the disease comes to our country, adds prof. Dr. Stevanovic, in this region, will immediately suspend the flow of animals and humans until the infection is suppressed, which could be a black scenario for the tourist season in theory. There is a vaccine for the disease, but it does not allow the animals to remain alive (they are vaccinated only that they do not suffer and do not spread the disease further and then euthanize). Vaccination also carries with it incomprehensible economic consequences. Because the state that starts to dispensing the same moment loses the status of the state free from this disease and is completely forbidden to export absolutely everything that is related to the disease in any way.
Unofficially We learn that the measures were adopted in Croatia, although the European Commission worked in severe pressure not to reach them, given that it wanted free flow of goods and people in all Member States.
