A Bulgarian attacked with the passers -by knife
A 30 -year -old woman was shot by the police in Munich, southern Germany, after attacked two people with a knife, said a spokesman for the institution.
The first alert arrived at the police around 7:45 pm (17:45 GMT) and several patrol machines responded immediately on the spot, said the spokesman, Thomas Schelshorn, for the NTV.
According to a reconstruction, the woman first injured a 56-year-old man, who suffered light injuries, then continued her journey and attacked a 25-year-old, when she was intercepted by police.
« During the arrest, a lethal firearm was used. In other words, the colleagues were forced to use the firearm. The woman later died at the hospital, » said the spokesman.
Schelshorn said that the reason for the supposed author of the attack is still unknown and that, due to the ongoing investigation, « the exact cause will be determined in the following hours or days. »
The attack took place in the center of the Bavarian capital, next to the famous Theresienwiese, an open space where the Oktoberfest festival is traditionally held.
According to the tabloid Bild, the attacker, who appears to be suffering from mental problems, lived nearby and was of Bulgarian origin.
« I am very grateful to the Munich police for the rapid action and because she managed to arrest the woman with the knife. Her death is unfortunate, but it was probably inevitable, » said Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann for Bild.
Efe recalls that exactly two weeks have passed since a homeless woman, who had been discharged from a psychiatry hospital the day before, stabbed 15 people in the central station in Hamburg in northern Germany.
And on Friday, a 48 -year -old man entered five people in Passau (southern Germany), although the police later reported that everything indicates a possible act of marital violence directed to his five -year -old wife and daughter, who were also injured in the attack.
