A Billion Agreement with a European country provided Skopje money to renovate Corridor 10

A new partnership of Northern Macedonia has caused political tensions in the country, but behind the disputes whether with it Skopje has secretly undertaken to accept migrants has remained hidden another success that the Christian Mitskoski government hoped to celebrate almost a year in power.

It is a railway line across Corridor 10 connecting Greece and Central Europe through Northern Macedonia and Serbia. The route, built years ago, maintains a low speed, slowing freight. When the European Commission did not declare funding for the reconstruction but settled on elements of Corridor No. 8 between Albania, Northern Macedonia and Bulgaria) of projects in Serbia, and Skopje temporarily stopped the construction of a part of Corridor 8 along the border with Bulgaria, the government was looking for (except for the funding for the project) and more funding for the connection of Serbia.

Now Tabanovce and Gevgelia will be connected by a high -speed railway line. The existing route will be used (Tabanovce – Kumanovo – Skopje – Veles – Negotino – Demir Kapia – Gevgelia), but there will be a completely new route with two tracks (ie the other will continue to operate until the end of the project) at a speed of up to 160 km/h on the passenger trains and 110-120 km of freight.

According to Transport Minister Alexander Nikoloski, these projects amounted to 1.7 to 1.9 billion euros.

Stagnation

This happens as northern Macedonia, coming closer to Serbia and Hungary at the VMRO-DPMNE, argue with Bulgaria what the problems between Sofia and Skopje are related to Corridor # 8 are, and while it refuses to change its constitution, adding the Bulgarians to it to begin the actual interconnections with the EU. Mickoski also insisted last week before the President of the European Council Antonio Costa in Skopje that the position was unchanged and that in the current form, the agreement known as the French proposal remains unacceptable.

Mickski and Nicoloski last summer accused Bulgaria of being inactive in terms of the tunnel and that the project could not end in the rocks of the Macedonian side. There is an agreement between the two countries – and technical work is done – to make this connection.

In front of elections

The opposition uses the case of attacks against the government, months before the local elections that will be marked by the fire with dozens of casualties in Kochani, but also by the reduction of the ruling coalition: Arben Taravari left his partner with the Albanian Block of Alba, and the Minister of Health (and expressed the dismissal of the role of the junction. Union.

The effect of these changes is yet to be seen. Mickski said on Sunday that in the government, as well as in the VMRO-DPMNE itself, there are major changes to the end of the year (ie in all likelihood after the local vote), and in power it will remain only « who distinguishes in work ».

Meanwhile, the Social Democrats accused the VMRO-DPMNE of not being transparent enough for the agreement with the UK and that more details should be provided, as it was obliged to accept migrants with it. Mickski rejected the allegations and explained that it was actually a cooperation of police forces and improving the efficiency of criminal groups.

Starmer confirmed in a tyrant at a press conference with Prime Minister Eddie Rama that Britain is talking to other countries about returning migrants. Following the meeting of Starrmer and Mickoski, such centers were not mentioned in the messages of both countries.
