75 percent make use of important option
PensionDanmark was among the first to make psychologist interviews on video available to their members. Since 2021, they have offered online psychological help as part of the health scheme for just over half a million members, three quarters of whom are men.
The effect has been clear. The number of treatments has risen from 1,400 in the first quarter of 2021 to almost 5,800 in the same period in 2025. Unlike the public health system, where women are far more often users of psychology help, PensionDanmark 60 percent of users are men.
Customer Director Flemming Tovdal Schmidt sees the potential for even greater spread:
« With the video consultations, we are definitely reaching out to more men than we would otherwise have done. It is positive and shows that quick and accessible help makes a difference. But there is still something to be gained in relation to the men being as good at seeking help as the women, and we are constantly working to get more of our members to use their opportunities with online psychologist and our health care system in general. »
Online psychologist works so that members can talk to a psychologist via video wherever they are. The offer covers a wide range of issues, including stress, anxiety, grief and personal crises – from both working life and privacy. It all takes place face to face via the screen, in a safe setting.
