In the US bombing at the oil port of Ras in Yemen, 74 people were killed and 171 were wounded, rebels Huti said today.

The attacks are one of the deadliest attacks ever in a bombardment campaign launched by US President Donald Trump on March 15.

The Iran -backed houtes today fired a missile to Israel, which the Israeli military said it was intercepted, but the alert sirens responded to Tel Aviv and other cities.

The Hutaal-Masirah satellite channel broadcast detailed footage of the consequences of the attack on the port of Ras, which shows bodies scattered on Earth. The statement said the attack, which caused a huge explosion and a fire, killed hospital workers and civilians in the port.

The US military’s central command said « US forces have taken action to eliminate the fuel source for the Huti terrorists and deprive them of illegal income that has been terrorizing the entire region for more than ten years. »

« This attack was not aimed at harming Yemen’s people, who rightly wants to remove the Juts and live peacefully, » the statement added. The military did not admit that there were casualties and declined to comment.

The Houthis condemned the US attack.

« This completely unjustified aggression is a flagrant violation of Yemen’s sovereignty and independence and directly targeting the entire Yemeni people, » the Houthi said in a statement.

The port of Ras, an important point for oil processing, is located in the Yemeni province of Hodeida on the Red Sea coast. It is the end of the pipeline leading to the Yemeni energy rich province of Marib, which still holds the Yemeni government’s allies in exile.

Shortly after the start of the war in the Gaza Strip, caused by the terrorist attack on the Palestinian Hamas movement on Israel on October 7, 2023, Yemeni rebels Juti, who have the support of Iran and express solidarity with Palestinians, carried out dozens of rocket attacks on Israel.

Those attacks stopped the ceasefire that came into force on January 19, but the Houthis, who claimed responsibility for the extension of attacks on Israel, had pledged to renew them as long as Israel continued to attack the Gaza Strip.
