4050 volunteer donations in these 5 months
Today, it is World Blood Donation Day, and this day comes not only as a call to raise awareness of the needs for safe blood, but also as a thanks to volunteer donors.
The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Albana Kociu, says that June 14 « reminds us of the importance of this vital gesture that saves life and thanks to thousands of people in need ».
This year, the motto the selected is « Donate blood, give hope: Together save lives ». In a post on social networks, Minister Kociu thanks every voluntary donor who calls « silent heroes of our daily lives ».
According to Kochi, in 2024 there were 9665 volunteer donations and 28557 family donations, while in the first 5 months of 2025 there were 4050 voluntary donations and 8074 family donations.
The campaign objectives for 2025 are to raise public awareness of the critical need for blood and plasma donation and the impact they have on patients’ lives, encouraging young and existing donors to give blood regularly, highlighting the positive impact of blood donors and well -being through blood donation.
