The 36 -year -old basketball player revealed that he was serious about 3×3 basketball this year.

« There have been two small tournaments before. The first summer when I started from the beginning, because the season ended faster and now I’m trying to enter the rhythm. For the time being, I just concentrated to understand how to play, little boots.

He highlighted that although the basic elements of basketball did not change, 3×3 basketball, unlike classical basketball, has its nuances.

« There is a slightly more physical game, the attack time has to be felt, because if there is less time, there are nuances that need to work technically – how to put a block, where to use such things. Other opponents who need to know well. Tactics are changing.

In May, Latvian 3×3 basketball team candidates, including Kuksik, played a training camp in Tenerife.

« It was my big test to understand how it all happens, what the condition should be and what nuances should be. It was my first step in the right direction, » the basketball player explained.

« I was addressed by Raimonds (Feldmanis) and Kristaps Gottfried. As the season ended quite early, I think it was better to do anything. It was the right decision for me. I got the first Challenger tournament right at the bottom, but the second was a big progress.

Last season, Kuksiks played in the ranks of the Latvian club « Liepāja », joining the Liepaja only in mid -December.

« If I had been from the start, it would have been better. Superficial watching, we first got to the Latvian-Estonian league playoffs. It just turned out that five games were lost in the last minute, so the young players will have a substance to reflect that every nuance is important.

On June 7 and 8, both Latvian women’s and men’s teams will play in the European Cup Qualifying Tournament in Bucharest. The final tournament in Copenhagen will take place from 5 to 7 September.

The World Cup in 3×3 basketball from 23 to 29 June will take place in Mongolia.
