34 girls participated in a girl chess tournament in Harpa


The third tournament in girls’ cups took place in Harpa yesterday. The tournament was held on the occasion of the Reykjavik chess tournament which takes place 9-15. April and is the most crowded tournament in history, but over 400 competitors participate there.

34 competitors participated in the girls’ cup. It was the Women’s Chess Committee that held the tournament in collaboration with the Chess Association of Iceland.

Three categories were taught, category 1-4. class, category 5-10. class and honor.

In the honorary group, the Swedish chesswoman and social media star, Anna Cramling, along with young Icelandic chess women who have represented Iceland in national teams. Anna Cramling won but she got a tough competition from the Icelandic girls.

In category 1-4. Classes had Miroslava Skibina great advantage and got 6.5 wins in 7 chess.

In category 5-10. Classes were Emilia Embla B. Berglindardóttir who stole the scene and got a full house winnings, 7 out of 7.

The opponent was Jóhanna Björg Jóhannsdóttir, Vice President of the SÍ and chairman of the Women’s Chess Committee. Chess directors were Dadi Ómarsson and Björn Ívar Karlsson.
